On 7 February 2018, SatCen hosted the 1st REACT2 Study Expert Working Group meeting.
REACT2 started on November 2017 and will run until October 2018. It follows REACT executed during 2017 and is the natural evolution to the transition towards an operational capability.
e-GEOS, prime contractor, jointly with its partners, presented the objectives and the management plan of the project aiming at the implementation of practical tools to increase the level of situational awareness.
The scope of the REACT2 project, managed by the European Defence Agency, is to perform the following tasks:
To produce Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) operational procedures which shall support the analyst in the definition of the most effective SAR collection planning to respond to the IMINT requirements associated with the operational scenario and tasks as defined in the EU.
To make the workflows defined in REACT 2 practical for the imagery analyst.
To develop the SAR Planning and Collection Element in order to support IMINT analysts and operators during the identification of the most suitable acquisition plans for SAR satellites, as well as the management of their tasking and data collection.
e-GEOS Chief Operating Officer Bruno Versini and SatCen Director Pascal Legai agreed that REACT2 is the opportunity to turn into reality the workflow developed initially in the REACT Study, to promote the use of radar imagery when supported by appropriate technological developments and assisted by EU Industry.
